Rhythms of the Reef

A mixed-media textile work that celebrates the extraordinary color, diversity, and abundance of life within a coral reef. Colorful fish created from fabric swim above and among a flourishing underwater landscape filled with dimensional coral, reef plants, and marine forms constructed from lace, beads, and a variety of specialty fibers. Brilliant reds, oranges, yellows, purples, blues, and greens flow across the composition, creating a rich tapestry of color and texture. Clusters of beads form intricate coral and add dimension and detail, while layers of lace, fibers, and textile elements create the varied shapes and textures found throughout the reef. The fish bring movement to the scene, drawing the eye across the composition and through the abundant marine life below. Subtle touches of paint and mixed-media detail enrich the surrounding water and reef, resulting in a piece that feels vibrant, immersive, and alive with the beauty, movement, and wonder of the underwater world.
