Interwoven Coral Reefs is a representation of coral reefs found in the oceans throughout the world. Here in the Midwest, we do not live near a reef, and most of us do not give them the attention that they deserve. I chose to create ocean reefs in my art to draw attention to their beauty and intricacies, and to bring to awareness to their plight. Sadly, the reefs are slowly dying due to the changes in our world.

Growing up in Florida, I had the opportunity to swim in the ocean near a coral reef.  The beauty of the reef touched me deeply, and when I began to express myself artistically, capturing the beauty of nature, an ocean reef emerged.  The plants and animals in the reef fascinated me, and in learning that they have co-existed together in a symbiotic relationship for millions of years made me want to share their intrinsic beauty.
