“Connections” A Gift Bestowed

“Blue Bird in the Garden” is a wonderful depiction of connection.  I create with what I connect with “nature” and this connection encourages my creativity!

“Connections” the gift that art bestowed on me.  When I first began to create art, it felt like” I came into being.”  I was alive with creativity, and I wanted others to share in this wonderful experience I was having.   Passion drove me to create, art gifted me with the power to translate nature’s beauty into a more permanent state, but connectivity gave me a sense of belonging of being a part of a world that if you truly look has so much beauty in it.

It began with the realization of how connected I have always been with nature.  Memories came flooding back of me as a young child where my happiest moments where of playing in the dirt, sitting on the grass, and always admiring flowers as I passed neighborhood gardens.  As a teen the ocean captivated me, with its secret life underneath the water and sandy beaches and roaring waves.  As an adult, trees began to fascinate me, their structures and shapes with diverse barks, leaves and even flowers brought intrigue and delight to my life.  So, it was only natural that nature was my source of inspiration when creating art.

What surprise me, and I am most grateful for is the connection that I have made with people.  I am an introvert by nature, and always felt reserve in talking to people, as if I had nothing of interest to share.  Being an artist opened the door to having a voice, to encourage others to allow creativity to flow through them, and to enjoy conversations about nature, art and the creative spirit.  The gift was in finding connections to myself, nature, art and wonderful people.

Internal Exploration

Exploration has been a core theme in my art, especially when it comes to exploring the outside world and all it has to offer in inspiring my next creation.  Since I have been in school, exploration is taking me to look on creating art through the lens of technique,...
