Fall came slowly this year, and I was happy with the warm weather that lingered through most of October.  I knew change was coming, but was glad to see some flowers still blooming, as I enjoyed an excursion one early October day, to a community garden not too far from where I live. One of the flowers that stood out were these multi-color blooms that resembled coneflowers.  They captivated me, because they were different than other coneflowers I had ever seen

Here in the Midwest during late summer you can find many coneflowers in gardens. They are easy to grow, and they produce different color flowers. Most of the time I see them in bright pink and purples, and they have even been the star of many of my art pieces. So, I was extremely excited to see these particular flowers, which I’m not even sure they are cornflowers, still thriving with their soft spring like pastel colors, and yellow mini flowers growing from the cone.  There was a simple elegance about them which compelled me to capture their essences with my camera to remember their beauty and colors for an art project.

Why do I enjoy creating flowers? I enjoy seeking them out in nature.  It gets me out of the house, and allows me to see them in their beautiful habitat.  When I look at flowers in a garden, I truly see them!  I notice not just the flower, but their stunning colors, shapes and design. They bring a sense of joy to me.  To be able to capture a moment is what an artist does. When I create flowers, I feel like I am able to immortalize them through artistic stitching, and in creating them it gives me an opportunity to share their graceful beauty with others.
