Living Reef – Quilt

A mixed-media textile work that celebrates the vibrant beauty and extraordinary diversity of life beneath the ocean’s surface. Colorful fish created from fabric swim among an abundant underwater landscape filled with dimensional coral, reef plants, and marine forms constructed from lace, beads, and a variety of specialty fibers. Brilliant shades of red, orange, yellow, purple, blue, and green create a rich tapestry of color and texture, while intricate beadwork and layered textile elements bring depth and dimension to the flourishing reef. The graceful movement of the fish draws the eye throughout the composition, inviting the viewer to explore the intricate details and hidden wonders of this underwater world. Subtle touches of paint and mixed-media detail enrich the surrounding water and marine life with depth and tonal variation. Displayed on a decorative metal quilt hanger, the piece combines the richness of textile art with a distinctive presentation, resulting in a work that feels vibrant, captivating, and alive with the color, movement, and wonder of the ocean.
