“Chasing Butterflies”

There are times in life that make me feel like a small child free and unencumbered by life’s chaos and responsibilities. This feeling comes when I am walking in the midst of nature, or lazily sitting on my porch on a warm sunny day.  During these simple moments I imagine myself a child chasing butterflies in the midst of a flower garden!

I fell in love with that child like image which reappears in my imagination from time to time.  As I considered creating it as an art piece, I kept getting stuck on how to create the child’s face, as I am not very good with facial details.   After some thought I decided to leave her face plain, since the joy of running  free, spoke for itself.  When this art piece came to life, I couldn’t be more pleased.

“Catching Butterflies”

After finishing “Chasing Butterflies,” I couldn’t help but feel I need to create another one that represented catching butterflies!   The image that came to me brought back memories of my son when he was young trying to catch butterflies with a net, running barefoot around my mom’s back yard.  This memory helped me to create “Catching Butterflies.”  Sometimes you just have to have a childlike imagination to create child like art!

“Chasing Butterflies” and “Catching Butterflies” are being displayed at Green Door Art Gallery where I am a resident artist year round. If you are in the area, come in and see the art!
